Gainesville is not overdeveloped

A letter revealed July 18 repeated the canard that ongoing building would turn Gainesville into a concrete canyon in a handful of yrs. I respectfully disagree. The tree canopy in the household locations has never ever been denser than it is currently.

Concerning 1960 and 2010, U.S. Census Bureau estimates of household sizing in Gainesville have fallen from 3.5 individuals for every to domestic to 2.25. The central and eastern parts of the town have depopulated to the extent that they can no longer help a viable retail or services economic system. Gainesville is not overdeveloped, but has regressed back again to pretty much semi-rural status on its jap edges.

Condominium buildings in the corridors about the college would be much less jarring if they experienced more substantial setbacks and better exterior style. Colonnades and more substantial tree wells should really be encouraged. In any case, Gainesville simply cannot prosper without a lively mixed-use space from the college into downtown.
